According to information released by the Virginia State Police, the crash occurred on the evening of May 17 at approximately 8:00 p.m. Authorities stated that a 2017 GMC Sierra traveling westbound crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2008 Ford F-150. The impact resulted in multiple injuries and significant damage to both vehicles. Investigators reported that Tristan T. Fluharty was a passenger in the GMC Sierra at the time of the collision. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital in critical condition following the crash. Despite medical treatment and emergency care efforts, he later died from injuries sustained in the accident. Several additional individuals involved in the collision were also injured. Authorities identified the driver of the GMC Sierra as 19-year-old River L. McDowell. A juvenile passenger in the Sierra and the driver of the Ford F-150, identified as 21-year-old George Jarvie, were likewise transported to area hospitals for treatment.
